ASHLEY E. AHRENS

Ashley E. Ahrens is a member/partner of Johnson Cook Abbott & Ahrens, PLLC. Ashley represents clients in family law matters, which include complex dissolution of marriage actions, child custody disputes, parenting time issues, child support matters, and post-decree issues. She represents clients in adoption and termination of parental rights actions and in dependent, neglect, and abuse cases. Ashley also represents clients in probate matters, estate planning, including wills and trusts, and in appellate actions. She has experience in real estate and civil litigation. Ashley is a Louisville native who graduated from Louisville Male High School, obtained her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from the University of Kentucky in English, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville. While in law school, Ashley was a member of the Brandeis Law Journal and won the 2005 Kentucky Bar Association’s Student Writing Competition.

Following her graduation from law school, Ashley was employed as a staff attorney for Family Court in the 12th Judicial Circuit before going into private practice. Ashley has served as the President, Vice President, and Treasurer for the 12th Judicial Circuit Bar Association. She is appointed by the Court to represent children as a Guardian ad Litem and as a Friend of the Court in Oldham, Trimble, and Henry counties. Ashley is also appointed to represent children by the Jefferson County Family Court. She has been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. Ashley is a member of the Louisville Bar Association, the 12th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, and the Kentucky Bar Association. Ashley and her family are very active and involved in athletics, and she played sports at a collegiate level.  She coaches youth field hockey and she and her family spend their free time either playing, coaching, or cheering at numerous sporting events.
