BRIANA GEISSLER ABBOTT Briana Geissler Abbott is an experienced litigator. Since her admission to the Bar, Mrs. Abbott has focused primarily on Domestic Relations or “Family Law” cases, including uncontested and contested divorces, complex custody litigation, child support litigation, and relative and non-relative adoptions, including international adoptions. Mrs. Abbott has lectured on grandparent visitation rights, de facto custody and third party custody in Kentucky. She has a passion for protecting the interests of children and is appointed by the Family Court to represent children as Guardian Ad Litem and Friend of the Court in high conflict divorce and custody cases. Mrs. Abbott also has experience handling appellate cases, landlord/tenant matters, contract disputes, estate planning and general civil litigation.
A Louisville native, Mrs. Abbott attended Louisville Male High School and then the University of Kentucky, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2001. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, Mrs. Abbott attended the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and graduated Cum Laude in 2004. Mrs. Abbott was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in 2004. She is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Western District of the State of Kentucky (2006) and the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit (2006). An active member of the legal community, Mrs. Abbott is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Louisville Bar Association. She is also a contributor to our community, having served on the Board of the Wesley House and as a Trustee for the William E. Barth Foundation.
